Legacy: Expansion

Burton-Katzman continued to evolve during the mid-1960’s, when Lester and Sidney began turning their interests toward developing industrial subdivisions, retail centers, apartments and office parks. They also began to expand their horizons from Michigan to other Midwest markets, Florida, California and the Carolinas. These commercial holdings are noted even today for their classic architectural design and forward thinking site selection along major growth corridors. Naturally, municipalities welcomed such attention to detail, and the family’s personalized, hands-on property management also produced fierce loyalty from tenants at Burton-Katzman’s landmark properties.
